How can I know that Allah loves me?
Many Muslims worldwide wonder about Almighty Allah’s love for them, especially after undergoing numerous suffering experiences and facing several hard times in life. Unfortunately, Allah’s love for us has been doubted! A strange question has risen in dead earnest “Does His Almighty feel us?!” Actually, some believe that Allah is without a hitch punishing them for their sins without any concerns about their weaknesses or status. But the fact is there is a great misinterpretation from people to Allah’s wisdom, love and hidden mercy that can be represented in different ways. Sometimes accompanied by pain!
Allah has revealed and presented in various verses in Quran the fact that He loves us the most, and that He is the most merciful to us. He talked about our love to Him, and even about the love between humans. He as well mentioned many times our lives, how we feel, what we think, and how can we live happily in life and afterlife.
In point of fact, the word love and its derivatives are repeated 84 times in the Holy Quran, the word mercy and its derivatives 330 times, and the word human 368 times. These are attestations in Quran that Love and Mercy are the core of any relationship in the world, starting with your relationship with your Almighty God, who is the most merciful, forgiver and lover, all the way to your relationship with any creature in the world.
Let’s dive into the Holy Quran’s greatness and see thoroughly some verses in which we can reassure the idea that Allah loves us the most.
Always turn back to Allah.
“For Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly.” [Al-Baqarah 2:222]
This part of verse 222 in sura Al-Baqara verifies Allah’s caring and love for us, his people; by clarifying his love for those who turn to him at all times. He knows our status, weaknesses, phycological states and desires, and our natural inclinations that lead us to make mistakes and commit sins, though, He never thinks of us with loath or hatred for being sinners; on the contrary, He loves us to just come back and ask for forgiveness, and to have faith on Him. Easily, because He wants to forgive us. The word “constantly” describes the fact that Allah knows that as long as we live, we won’t stop committing sins, and He isn’t waiting to punish us! He awaits our return, our repenting, and our positive steps towards being pure, all because of His love for us.
Allah Loves those who repent and turn to Him.
“Do they not know that God accepts the repentance of His creatures and receives what they offer in charity, and that He is forgiving and kind?” [At-Tawba 9:104]
When you repeatedly make the same mistakes with someone, there comes a point where they may never fully forgive you or treat you as they did before; but with Allah, He is always the most compassionate and merciful, the kindest and the most forgiving, that whenever you’re mistaken and you repent He accepts you just as you’ve never committed a single sin before. No one who doesn’t love you will do this, it’s a confirmation that Allah’s love is the ultimate. As long as your intentions are pure and directed towards Allah, He definitely accepts you and accepts whatever you offer. Allah addresses in this verse his people reminding them that He loves them, He will accept them and forgive them, they just have to follow the common sense and regret their mistakes.
Be righteous and do good.
“And do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good.” [Al-Baqarah 2:195]
The better you do, the more you fight your dark side and work on being obedient to Allah, the most Allah’s love for you increases and your status become higher. It’s not money or positions that make you that good person, but how you implement the good that Allah has ordered us to do while doing your utmost to avoid sins and whatever Allah asks you to leave. Don’t think of it as Allah is waiting for your good doings to love you, but because he loves you, he ordered you to do the good.
Do your best and leave the rest to Allah.
وَعَسَىٰ أَن تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ ۖ وَعَسَىٰ أَن تُحِبُّوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ شَرٌّ لَّكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ “But you may hate a thing although it is good for you, and may love a thing although it is evil for you. Allah knows, and you do not.” [Al-Baqara 2:216]
Allah makes whatever is good for you, even if it’s revealed as painful, or evil doing. Because Allah loves you, He mentioned this verse in his Holy Book, which clarifies that you may go through something you hate, though it’s good for you, and vice versa. Make sure that Allah’s love and wisdom are behind every single thing you undergo, you just need to have faith that He is the most merciful to ever let you suffer without a reason, and this reason is always the best for you. sometimes things aren’t as they seem, for our knowledge is limited, while Allah’s is unsurpassed. Always remember His mercy, love, and wisdom is accompanied by his unlimited knowledge, and that all of them are your guard and compass.
Remember Allah, thank Him, and be gratefule.
O you who believe! Seek help through patience and prayers. God is with the steadfast.” [Al-Baqara 2:153]
This beautiful verse emphasizes the reciprocal relationship between humans and their Creator. It encourages believers to remember Allah, assuring them that He, in turn, will remember them. The act of remembering Allah is not just a mental exercise but a comprehensive form of worship that includes obedience, gratitude, and reverence.
The verse also instructs believers to be thankful for Allah’s blessings. Gratitude is a central theme in Islam, as it acknowledges Allah’s favor and fosters a positive attitude. Conversely, the verse warns against ingratitude or denial of Allah’s favors, which is considered an act of disbelief.
Seek help with patience and prayer.
Seek help through patience and prayers. God is with the steadfast.” [Al-Baqara 2:153]
Without evil, we wouldn’t know the good; and without sadness, we wouldn’t know happiness. Allah knows life is not easy, and it’s full of hardships, and because He cares and loves us, He mentioned various solutions to help us confront life’s difficulties. The first is mentioned in this verse, by seeking help through patience and prayers. When you feel that your life is in the hands of the most merciful, most compassionate and unsurpassed Allah, when you pray and talk to Him knowing He listens to even your inner thoughts, when you stay patient having faith the better is coming, Allah will always be with you. No matter if you felt depression or weakness sometimes, just make sure Allah knows your case, your presence, and is already planning the best for you. Stay patient and pray, while waiting for the best.
Corruption has several forms. Avoid them all.
God does not like corruption.” [Al-Baqara 2:205]
All acts of corruption affect us negatively! and so, Allah doesn’t permit what bad people-corrupters- do being a threat or a reason for sadness and injustice to others. Here, Allah’s disapproving of corruption is a threat to those who spread it and a message for good people to dislike it and avoid being a reason for it; He created us to follow common sense and goodness, which naturally contradicts with any kind of evil doings. Allah will never equalize corruptors with good-doers. Consequently, you have to realize that Allah doesn’t approve of corruption for his love and caring for us.
Do not despair of Allah’s mercy. He forgives all kinds of sins.
قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَىٰ أَنْفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ “Say, O My servants who have transgressed against themselves: do not despair of God’s mercy, for God forgives all sins. He is indeed the Forgiver, the Clement.” [Az-zumar 39:53]
Maybe you’ve done a lot of great sins to the extent you think Allah is punishing you and that he will never accept you, which is untrue -Never think of Allah in such a way!- He clarifies here that His mercy is surpassing everything and that He is the ultimate forgiver, also He is telling you- himself- not to despair of His mercy! No matter how much sins you’ve committed, you’re still able to repent and ask genuinely for his forgiveness, love, and kindness and be certain that he is waiting for you to forgive you.
Piety contents the soul, comforts the hearts, and increase your ranking.
لَٰكِنِ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا رَبَّهُمْ لَهُمْ غُرَفٌ مِنْ فَوْقِهَا غُرَفٌ مَبْنِيَّةٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ ۖ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ ۖ لَا يُخْلِفُ اللَّهُ الْمِيعَادَ “But those who fear their Lord will have mansions upon mansions, built high, with streams flowing beneath them. The promise of God; and God never breaks a promise.” [Az-zumar 39:20]
Death is never the end and this life is not the actual life. Allah promises those who love Him, obey Him, and sincerely worship Him that they will have the ultimate and the great life in Jannah, in the hereafter, where they’ll get everything they desire: mansions, rivers, and anything they want before even thinking about it. Make sure your deeds will return to you someday and believe that Allah is the most generous; He promises you the best if you’re trying your utmost to be a good person, and he never breaks a promise.
Allah can change your life in no time.
His command, when He wills a thing, is to say to it, “Be,” and it comes to be.” [Ya-seen 36:82]
He is the almighty God, who whenever wills a thing, just say “be” for it to be. Can you imagine if you are one of Allah’s favorites, how your life will be, how you’re going to be a satisfied happy, and merciful person? Have faith in Allah’s abilities and plans for you -His abilities are not to be questioned-. pray for whatever you want, don’t put limits to your hopes when you trust Allah, and have faith that He can do anything and everything for you, but sometimes you need to be patient because He is planning the best timing for your good. Never stop trusting, or praying.
وَرَحْمَتِي وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ ۚ فَسَأَكْتُبُهَا لِلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَالَّذِينَ هُم بِآيَاتِنَا يُؤْمِنُونَ “My mercy encompasses all things, I will specify it for those who act righteously and practice regular charity, and those who believe in Our signs.” [Al-A’raf 7:156]
Another inspirational verse makes it clear that Allah’s mercy encompasses all things, including all his creations and creatures from all worlds. Then He specifies that those who will be blessed to deserve his mercy at all times, in this world and hereafter, are people who act righteously and believe his signs, words, and proofs; also, those who practice regular charity; Which is a great evidence to how important and good giving money to those in need is.
Put your trust in Allah.
And when you make a decision, put your trust in God; God loves the trusting.” [Ali’imran 3:159]
Our last verse in this article is about trusting Allah. He feels you and tells you to trust Him whenever you make a decision and whenever you take a step. Because He knows what you don’t know, He does the very right thing for you. Believe that Allah is the Almighty who loves you and wants your happiness. Even though it’s not always satisfying in this world, never stop pursuing, always have faith and trust, and believe that Allah will never let you down.
